Donald Cerrone took on Yancy Medeiros on Sunday night. Cerrone’s last win came in December of 2016 against Matt Brown. Cerrone went winless in 2017, Cerrone suffered 3 losses and 2 by TKO.
Cerrone was at a career crossroads. Cerrone had never lost 3 fights in a row in his career and some started to wonder if he had lost a step, but when you look closer at his record you will find that Donald Cerrone is always fighting killers. Cerrone lost two Robbie Lawler, Jorge Masvidal, and Darren Till. Lawler is a former world champion, Masvidal is a veteran of over 45 professional fights, and Till is an up and comer that had a serious size advantage over Cerrone that was able to impose his will on him.
Cerrone fought UFC veteran Yancy Medeiros and defeated him by first-round TKO. The fight was a scrap that saw both fighters get good shots in with Cerrone taking home the victory. The level of sportsmanship in this fight isn’t something you find very often. Medeiros slipped in the middle of the fight and instead of Cerrone going in for the kill, he let Meidiros regain his balance and reset. Most fighters won’t even give you an inch. Say what you want about the move, but it was a classy gesture by Cerrone. Cerrone’s win against was his record-tying 20th for most in UFC history/
